Anna is a local artist specializing in realistic still-life oil paintings. Every painting results from a thorough observation of common objects found around us and skillful transcription on canvas with abundant details. Her paintings emit coziness, warmth, and feeling good.
At a very young age, Anna Rejoyce developed an appreciation for art thanks to her aunt a hobbyist oil painter. In 2015 after having a career as a business analyst at LG in Korea and a home designer/general contractor in Colorado, she started to practice art and soon became a devoted painter, all while raising three boys. She is primarily self-taught but has received generous support from the wonderful members of the Waltham Mills Artists Association and Soo Rye Yoo, a renowned Korean artist who resides in Rye, NH.
Fruits in the corner of my kitchen, Saturday’s laid-back breakfast table, freshly milk-painted furniture with its belongings…These are my subject matter.
As my name gives a clue, my art is about capturing and rejoicing in ordinary moments with common objects in daily life. On each canvas, I yearn to portray love, gratitude, and homage to those somewhat insignificant or neglected stuff and give the viewer a new perspective with visual delights. Most of my work is representational paintings in contemporary settings, and sometimes I simplify the background to give a graphic design-like look.
By creating a set for a view from above or isolating the subject from the scene, I often emphasize their design and invite the viewer to see familiar things in different ways. I find joy in the progress of harmonizing the colors and bringing abstract elements like wide plains, stripes, and checkers to my paintings.
Anna’s art will be on display in our gallery from November 1st thru December 31st.
